Eker Design are industrial partners, and Eker Design are responsible for doing all the Design- and Engineering work in this project. Together with Eker Communication we are also able to make the complete marketing package and market approach for this new One2Touch Touch&Type keyboard.
Through the past year we have developed this product along with the rest of the One2Touch organization which is based in different locations here in Norway. The first product, now in flexible silicone for mobile phones, will be released for the Japanese market in Q2 2012 through Japanese distribution channels. The product concept range is huge and  we will continue to develop new products in different markets and range in the coming years.

One2Touch Touch&Type technology is a patented solution, and One2Touch received the Rosing innovation award now in november 2011!

Worlds biggest lamp at Storstua, Oslo.

This was a project for Haugenstua apartment community in Oslo. The project were introduced to us through a local artist, and we managed to do final development and manufacturing of the complete lamp.
-Milling the form in our large scale milling machine, -Construction and manufacturing the steel frames, -Glasfiber molding the screen, and Administrating the process and on-site assembling.
The molding process were a special task which led us into a detailed material research to find the optimal combination of color, lamination and strength. The color on the screen are orange, and the color are ment to give a good warm feeling even in daylight when the lamp is shut.
The screen is 4meter in dia and 3 meter high, and the lamp itself is total 9meter high.

Steve Wozniak & Bård Eker

Last week we had the opportunity to meet the legendary co-founder of Apple at the IT convention in Tønsberg, Norway. It was an interesting match where ingredients such as hard work, passion for new inventions and out-of-the-box thinking seemed to be common strengths at both entrepreneurs. The way Steve controlled both the mechanical and software design all the way to the beautiful Apple products with few compromises is the main reason for Apples success story, and the direct cause of why so many of us envy its market position.
Thanks for a good meeting!

Jøtul CUBE by Eker Design

Eker Design proudly presents CUBE, a new designed and developed product for Jøtul. The goal was to make a new product for the existing Jøtul burn chambers. A new product that would improve the efficiency and widen the usability of the existing burn chambers.

We solved the construction introducing a new way of building your own fireplace using sheetmetal as the main construction elements. The assembly of the units are very easy and timesaving compared to the existing solutions for these burn chambers.
We solved the heat efficiency by transporting the heated air through the sheetmetal base.
We solved the combustible wall distance by using the sheetmetal base as a radiation shield.
We solved the design through a thoroughly study of material and design. By the right dimensional proportions, and by using new materials and combinations in a sensible way we have created a product which will fit into most interiors. At the same time we are enabling the customers to change the design by easy change the panels around the sheetmetal base.
We solved the product itself by giving the customers the opportunity to change the apperance, as we know that the biggest trend of all is the trend of changing!
The total time to mount the complete fireplace is 30 minutes, and changing the design is done in less than half the time.

We even made a video to show the mounting procedure and to show the product in "the right element". Please click the picture above to start the video.

Please also see the pressrelease from Jøtul.

Eker Design with the new CTS EX90 Honors Award for Design

Cisco TelePresence Systems EX90 CTS EX90 (TANDBERG EX90)
The CTS EX90 is a result of a successful project between Eker Design and the Tandberg development team.
Eker Design had the complete responsibility of the mechanical design - from the first sketch design models to the engineering - including the following disciplines;
- Mechanical engineering project leadership
- 3D construction on all parts and the complete assemblies
- Tool and part - management
- Thermal development, including physical testing and CFD simulations
- Supplier search and supplier handling
- Mechanical prototype production and assemling
Eker Design also provided documentation and preproduction which included:
- 2D documentation for all technical parts
- Work instructions and exploded part overview assemblies
- Assembly line jigs and fixtures
- On site personnel assembly training
- Logistics and packaging

Eker Design using the right tools
During the whole product development process we used Cisco TelePresence system in the project meetings with the Cisco team at Lysaker. Due to the fact that the TelePresence systems worked as a perfect communications and collaboration tool, we had less frequent in-person meetings than usual during the 1,5 years development time. The TelePresence systems were a great tool during this process and made us save both time and cost.
At Eker Design we now even manage to utilize the TelePresence system so that our in-house engineers share content during the periods of detailed 3D modeling.

EKER GOES DUCATI

Bård Eker, through his company Eker Performance, has become the newest distributor of Ducati motorcycles. ”Motorcycles are actually where our interest in design, performance and speed began – and with Ducati, we have a trademark that’s close to our hearts and best suited to our existing product portfolio,” says Bård Eker. With Hydrolift and Koenigsegg serving as the cornerstone of Ekers’ great passions of design, technology and performance, Ducati motorcycles will be a “perfect match” to an already stellar lineup. Ducati has developed tremendously in the past few decades and now has a broad portfolio of appealing products that sell to consumers far beyond the racetrack. Eker Performance Center is located in Fredrikstad, where Hydrolift and Koenigsegg Norway have their location today.  The performance center looks forward to showcasing all the different Ducati models. The big news this year is the all new Ducati DIAVEL, which according to Eker and Co., is an incredibly exciting motorcycle that appeals to a whole new audience.

”Our idea is to reinforce our philosophy of collective expertise and premium products so that our performance center can represent and deliver the most dynamic machines for land or sea – with and without a propeller – and on 2 or 4 wheels,” says Bård Eker.
